Where to Watch: –

One of the few movies to legitimately scare me.  The sense of dread and the perpetual countdown throughout the movie make even harmless actions and reveals subtly terrifying, and the premise of the curse seems so unnervingly realistic in today’s media- filled society.  The different supernatural events that occur to the main characters after they’ve watched the tape aren’t gory, but they’re just disturbing enough to get under your skin.  Add to that the frightening foreboding visuals—the state of the victims’ bodies, the blood in the water after the horse jumps off the boat, the flickering well that Samara crawls out of—and it’s easy to see why this film is highly praised as a horror film without the use of blood and guts that most of the genre relies on.
